We all have our favourite colours. But why do we pick certain colours? What about colours in clothing? Can the colours we wear effect the way we feel?
Red is supposed to be the colour that attracts attention. It's a lively colour, full of passion. It's suppose to make us feel better when we feeling fed up or a bit tired. We will probably find ourselves attracted to it for parties, where we want to make an impact, or perhaps even the first day back at school, where the 'look-at-me' factor is defiantly important. However, it's not the colour we would pick when sleep and relaxation is important!
Orange is the colour of joy and pleasure. It encourages us to be sociable. This makes it great for parties and hanging around with friends. However, it is not very good for trying to do some studying or get that homework done.
Yellow is the colour of intelligence or inspiration. It's supposed to help us with decision-making, being on our own and logical, rational thinking. It's good to wear when you need to study, work hard to meet an important deadline or sit an exam. However, it's not good to wear to parties were you need to be sociable! Basically, it has the opposite effect of orange.
Green is a relaxing, calming colour as well as being one of my favourites. It makes us feel more at peace and more friendly. ItÂ’s great for helping solve problems or offering advice. However, not so great when all you want to do is have fun and be carefree or for giving a speech for a debate.
Blue is another calming, relaxing colour. We are most likely to be drawn to it when we want to wind down, blue can send us to sleep if we already feel tired, or feel upset about something, blue can calm us down. For these purposes, itÂ’s good to wear to bed! However, avoid it when you need to be alert.
Purple is great for self-confidence. Use it when you are feeling down about something or somebody has had a go at you. It's a mixture of blue and red- passion without the temptation to yell at somebody! It's probably not all that good when you need to see the other person's point of view though!
Black is a colour of security and can intensify any emotion we are feeling. So, it's good to use when you are happy but not so good to use when you are down. Also, because it's the colour of security, it's good to use when you really need to fit in.
White is a pure colour which can make you feel like a good person. Wear it when you have done something wrong!
